Wonder Bean, 1921

From the October 6, 1921 Skidmore News (Skidmore, Missouri), page 1:

Some Bean.
W. C. Nelson of the Parnell Bank has on exhibition at the bank, something which is quite a curiosity, says the Parnell Sentinel. It is what is known as a wonder bean. Mr. Nelson got the seed from some seed house and planted it in his garden. At first it looked as if it might never develop into anything more than a big vine, but finally two or three beans appeared and the one Mr. Nelson brought tot he bank is about 30 inches long, 4 inches in diameter and weighs 8 1/2 pounds. The Sentinel did not state whether this was one bean or a pod, but either way it certainly is “some bean.”
