Prize-winning news from the January 13, 1916 Skidmore New Era (Skidmore, Missouri), page 1:

Some Corn Raiser.

Vernon Goslee is sure some corn raiser. While but eleven years of age he won all that could be won on ten ears of Improved Reid’s Dent at Maryville; then sent his display to Columbia and won Second there.

His father, Frank Goslee, won Fifth on single ear and Fifth on bushel.

Vernon’s score at Columbia was only 1/2 of 1 percent under the blue Ribbon corn.
