Town Talk, 1920

If you’re like us, you could use a pep talk to jump start your spring cleaning. Here’s one from the April 29, 1920 edition of the Skidmore News (Skidmore, Missouri), page 1:

Town Talk

Tomorrow is clean-up day.

Why not paint up that building and make it look like new?

Let’s clean up the town and make it a healthy place to live.

We have decided to make public everything we have brought before us so the people may know. What do you think about that?

There has been complaint about the side walks being blocked. There is an ordinance which says a fine of not less than $5, nor more than $50 shall be assessed for blocking the side walk.

Boys, we like every one of you and also the girls, but you must not use the side walks for a play ground with your coaster wagon, roller skates and the like. Your Pa and Ma may not object, but your next door neighbor does.

Advertisement reads, "Time to Paint. Brighten up your property by using Devoe's Lead and Zinc Paint. Paint is cheaper than repairs -- then too -- the look is worth the price. Come in! Model Drug Co. Skidmore, Mo. Plain Figures. "S & H" Stamps."
