Successful Club Halloween in Skidmore, 1922

From the November 2, 1922 Skidmore News (Skidmore, Missouri), page 1:

Hallowe’en Party.

The Hallowe’en party given by the Successful Club at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Goslee Friday evening was indeed a “Success.”

The house was dimly lighted by grinning jack-o-lanterns, revealing the spacious rooms decorated with festoons of black and orange. Witches and ghosts stalked silently through the rooms and disappeared in dark corners with eerie groans and sighs, while clowns, Chinamen, Indians, soldiers and various other personages held high carnival until the time came to unmask, which caused much merriment. Much ingenuity and artistic talent was shown in the varied costumes, but all agreed that Harry Mitchell was the “Belle” of the evening.

Refreshments of pumpkin pie, doughnuts and cider were served.

Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Russel Peter and son Harry; Mr. and Mrs. Loren Pfeiffer and son Charles; Mr. and Mrs. Alex Wells and son Douglas; Mr. and Mrs. Rob’t Wells and daughter Susie Clare; Mr. and Mrs. Chas.
