Skidmore School Enrollment, 1902

Big numbers reported in the September 12, 1902 Skidmore Standard (Skidmore, Missouri), page 1:

The Skidmore public schools are right in the procession just behind the band when it comes to keeping up with our town’s growth and progress. In the high school there are 38 pupils. Mrs. J. H. Porter in the grammar department has 40, Miss Maud Linville in the intermediate department has 47, and Miss Lottie Burke has 50 in the primary room, making a total of 175 pupils, which is the largest enrollment the schools have ever opened with. The number of non-resident pupils enrolled is also greater than in any preceding term, there being 25 now and 3 more to come in immediately. These figures show conclusively that the enrollment cannot grow much more unless the school building does a little growing too.
