Punkin Show Sponsors, 1903

It takes a village to put on a Punkin Show. According to the June 26, 1903 Skidmore New Era (Skidmore, Missouri), page 1, here were the sponsors lined up to help. A calculator we checked showed that $10 in 1903 dollars would be about $293 in 2020 dollars.

Fifth Annual Punkin Show.
We the undersigned agree to give the sum opposite our respective names for the purpose of defraying the expenses of a Punkin Show to be held in Skidmore, Mo., on or about the first of September, 1903.

The Board of Directors of the Skidmore Punkin Show met at A. Pinkston’s lumber office and appointed the following committees and superintendents for the Punkin Show this year:

Com. on Amusements – J. D. Montgomery, E. D. French, H. W. Montgomery.
Com. on Advertising – E. A. Miller, E. T. Duval, R. B. Foser.
Com. on Premiums – T. E. Haynes, E. T. Duval, I. N. Sewell.
Com. on Decoration – Mrs. H. W. Montgomery, Mrs. E. T. Duval, A. C. Dodds.
This committee is empowered to appoint all assistants needed.
Superintendents.

The dates set for holding the Punkin show are September 29 and 30 and October 1 and 2.

Now that the committees are appointed they should begin work as soon as possible so as to have plenty of time and make the best possible showing. If we expect to outdo all former records it will take lots of work and to accomplish this we must begin early.
