Peoples and Goslee Win at Meet, 1922

Athletic news from the May 4, 1922 Skidmore News (Skidmore, Missouri), page 1:

First Place Was Won by Blanchard, Ia. — Skidmore Took Second and Elmo Third.

With eleven schools entered in the Clearmont High School Relay Carnival, Skidmore took second place. First place was won by Blanchard, Ia., and Elmo got third.

Denton Peoples and Vernon Goslee were the winners for the local school. Peoples won first place in the pole vault, at the height of 10 feet 5 inches; first in hop-step-jump, with a distance of 42 feet 5 3/4 inches; first in running high jump, at 5 feet 4 inches. Goslee took second in discus throw, third in running high jump, and tied for third in hop-step-jump.

At the tri-county meet held at Maitland two weeks ago, Peoples won the high jump, clearing the bar at 5 feet 6 inches, and making a record that will probably stand for some time; and Goslee got second in the discus throw, with a throw of 96 feet 7 1/2 inches.

The local track team is entered in the meet to be held at the Teachers College at Maryville Saturday.
