Hail Storm, July 1921

From the Skidmore News (Skidmore, Missouri), July 14, 1921, page 1:

Crops Destroyed by Hail Storm.
A hail storm did much damage to crops in Nodaway county on Wednesday evening of last week. In the neighborhood of Palestine church, east of town, several fields were beaten down and completely destroyed.

The storm took a northeasterly course across the county, doing the greatest damage in the Harmony neighborhood east of Maryville. Hail stones as large as door knobs were reported in that vicinity. It is said that stock exposed to the storm was so badly bruised that it could hardly get around for a day or two. Large trees were uprooted by the wind which accompanied the hail, and considerable damage was done to buildings, according to reports.
