Genuine Bargains

We’ve made it through the pre-holiday sales, the post-holiday sales, the January sales, the Valentines and Presidents’ Day Sales, and we’ve bought our Easter bonnets.  What’s next, you ask?  Spring and summer suits for the men and boys from the best tailor houses in Chicago, of course, and spring capes for the ladies.

From the April 28, 1899 Skidmore Standard:  “Kellogg’s Department Store.  At no time in the history of our business have we been as well prepared to offer our customers genuine bargains in every line as we are now; our motto has been ‘The best for the money,’ and so well have we succeeded that it is with confidence we assert that we will not be undersold, quality considered, by anyone.”
