We hope all of us have plenty of surplus money this year. If you were looking for a place to store that surplus in Skidmore, Missouri in 1908, you would need to look no further than The Bank of Skidmore. Here’s their pitch in the Skidmore New Era, December 10, 1908, page 1:

Advertisement reads, “Would it not be an immense advantage, in event of illness or accident, or any other cause whereby you should require a sum of ready money, to be able to call for the amount at a bank? By depositing your funds with this bank, you may command your surplus money at any time. It is always ready for you. The Bank of Skidmore.”
