Wedding Bells: Gallagher – Brown

From the April 12, 1901 Skidmore Standard, page 1:

A very pretty wedding occurred Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mr. John Gallagher, 9 miles southwest of Skidmore, when his daughter, Florence, was married to Mr. Archie Brown.

At 4:30 o’clock the Ross Grove band, standing on the front porch, struck up the wedding march and the groom and bridesmaid, Miss Maude Gallagher, came down the stairs followed by Mr. John Brown, best man, with the bride.  Taking their places under a bower of evergreens and flowers at the parlor entrance, Rev. Lane Douglas pronounced the ceremony with the wedding ring which made them husband and wife.

Immediately after the ceremony an elegant supper was served in the spacious dining room to the neighbors and friends of whom 100 or more were present.  The bride and groom were the recipients of many costly and beautiful presents.  They will begin housekeeping at once on the Grooms farm six miles southwest of town.
