We love the old state better than ever

In case the August weather is getting to you, we bring you this optimistic note from the August 10, 1911 Skidmore New Era (Skidmore, Missouri), page 4:

Missouri the Best State Anyway.

The late rains will bring the pastures out now besides doing wonders in the cornfields.

J. E. Strickler, one of our largest cattle men, said the other day, “Well, I had never lost faith in old Missouri, and during the driest weather of July I said, even if the rain does not come, I will give the state credit for standing the drought longer than any other place could have done and now since the rain has fallen and every thing has taken on new life, I love the old state better than ever.”
