A Valentine Party.
In spite of the rough roads and cold weather a merry crowd of young folks could be seen wending their way Monday night, Feb. 15, to the beautiful home of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Wells, where a most pleasant valentine social was held.
The house was beautifully and artistically decorated with red hearts and cupids. The colors of the evening were red and white and carried throughout the evening program.
Punch was served upon entering after which many new and interesting games were played. Each one was presented with a paper bag and told to hunt for candy hearts which were hid in profusion in the different rooms. A very beautiful valentine was presented to James Linville, as the one capturing the most hearts.
An eating contest was next, in which the contestants were Clarence Thomas and Fred Kellogg, Mr. Thomas not being hungry as Mr. Kellogg was thirsty soon lost out, and Mr. Kellogg was awarded the prize, a lovely valentine. Next followed a shooting contest, with bow and arrow, the prize was given to Warren Reaksecker, who came nearest the mark.
Dainty refreshments were served. Music was furnished during the evening by Misses Neva Reaksecker and Ona Wade. Three pieces of ‘solemn’ music were furnished by Miss Babe Howden.
Those present were: Misses Minta and Emma Howden, Edith Porter, Myrtle Smock, Ona Wade, Charlotte Keenan, Elma Rodman, Dora Albright, and Neva Reaksecker. Messrs: Jim Linville, Bert Garnett, A. C. Marble, Chas. Smock, Fred Kellogg, Lester Reaksecker, Albert Logan, Noble and Warren Reaksecker. Messrs and Mesdames Clarence Thomas, John Owens, Jessie Patton, and Pearl Logan.
The guests departed in the wee small hours of the morning thanking their host and hostess for the most royal entertainment which they all so greatly enjoyed.
