Surprise! (And Happy Birthday, W. T. Bohannan)

From the June 16, 1899 Skidmore Standard:

“Talk about your surprises. If W. T. Bohannan wasn’t surprised Tuesday evening when he went home and found the house full of guests who had come to help him celebrate his thirty-fifth birthday, there never was a surprised mortal on this mundane sphere! His wife originated the scheme and carried it out so successfully that Billie didn’t even suspect that a party was on the tapis. He soon recovered from his surprise, however, and the evening was spent most delightfully. His friends presented him with an elegant rocker as a memento of the occasion.”
