Did you know that Skidmore, Missouri once had not one, but two meat markets? Here’s proof from the Skidmore New Era, October 1, 1908:

The first ad reads, “An Up-to-Date Meat Market is what you want. We are doing our best to give satisfaction to our increasing patronage. We handle the choicest of fresh meats and all kinds of lunch hams. Home-cured corn beef always for sale here. Yours for business, David McDonald. The second ad reads, “Skidmore Meat Market. The place to get your fresh meat. Nothing but young stuff used by us. For either fresh or salt meats come in and let us supply you. Your patronage solicited, Charles Groves, Proprietor.”
