From the June 21, 1906 Skidmore New Era (Skidmore, Missouri), page 1:
Band Goes to Clyde.
Those who have the management of the celebration of Independence day at Clyde in charge have shown good musical taste in securing the Skidmore band to furnish the music for the occasion. This is the first time in several years the band has had an opportunity to leave home on the nation’s birthday as they have found employment at home, but this year as there will be no celebration here it was free to go to Clyde and furnish the people there with first class music. The members of our band have been practicing regularly during the winter and spring months and are able to produce music that will be appreciated by those who attend the celebration at Clyde.
