When your loved ones are far from home, every bit of news is welcome. This report was printed in the November 15, 1917 Skidmore News:
Saw the Boys
Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Montgomery left last Thursday for Chicago where they were met by their son, Neal, who is stationed at Chillicothe, Ohio, but was in Chicago on a short furlough. Miss Frances who is in Cedar Rapids for the winter also joined her father, mother and brother in Chicago and they all had a pleasant visit together. Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery also saw all the Skidmore boys who are in Uncle Sam’s service in the training camps there except Marion Owens and Ralston McClain. They came home Tuesday.
