The week after Christmas 1921, the Skidmore News of Skidmore, Missouri reported on several parties and family meals which were, we’re sure, both joyous and delicious. Here are a few from page 1 of the December 29, 1921 News:
Family Christmas Tree.
A family Christmas tree and dinner was held Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. David Mitchell. In connection with the tree, a short program was given. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. W. A. James and four children, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Mitchell and two children and the host and hostess. A most enjoyable evening was spent.For Out-of-Town Guests.
Miss Thelma Ford entertained Tuesday evening in honor of Guy, Hallie and Laveta Foley of Fairfax, who are spending the holidays here with their aunt, Mrs. Cleve Owens. The evening was spent in playing rook and somerset. Refreshments were served, and a very pleasant evening was enjoyed. Those present were: Misses Hallie and Laveta Foley of Fairfax, Verna Owens, Lora Mae Calvert of Nodaway, Louise Logan, Zepha Long and Mayme Peoples; Guy Foley and Harold Kruse of Fairfax, Forrest Owens, Francis Bagby, Everett Long and Denton Peoples; Mr. and Mrs. Cleve Owens and daughter, Bernice; Mr. and Mrs. B. O. Ford and Miss Thelma Ford.Entertained at Christmas Dinner.
Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Zeller entertained at Christmas dinner, all of their children: Wayne Zeller of St. Louis, Miss Lora Zeller of Wichita, Kan., Lynn Zeller of Mound City, and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Weller. Miss Viva Peters and Milbern Sanders were present also.
