Miss Francis Jackson Honored, 1921

From the Skidmore News (Skidmore, Missouri), April 14, 1921, patge 1:

Miss Francis Jackson Honored.
Friends of Miss Francis Jackson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Jackson, will be pleased to hear that the faculty at Stephens College, at Columbia, Mo., has recently elected Miss Jackson to membership in Phi Theta Kappa, the honorary society at that institution.

Several years ago the faculty at Stephens College decided that some recognition should be given to superior students, this superiority to be determined by scholarship, but not by scholarship alone. The student’s moral fitness and her interest in the activities of the College are also considered. With this thought in mind an honorary society was organized. This sorority was later made into a national organization and given the name Phi Theta Kappa. Only ten percent of the College students can be elected to membership in any one year.

The Registrar of Stephens College reports that all of the students who have enrolled at that institution from Skidmore have made records that are above the average. In addition to Miss Jackson, the following are attending school at Stephens: Lucile Linville, Agnes Barrett, and Ella Manchester.
