Ad reads, “Have Merry Clothes for Merry May. ‘Miss Beautiful’ bids you be merry! A charming new outfit will enchant the dull spirit. Just come and let us show you our new goods. Our store now gleams with enticing merchandise. We invite you to come in and see our merry clothes for Merry May. Shoes for Men, Women, and Children. Hitch your horse to our parcel post. Come in and see our Parcel Post tape No. 5. You can’t get along without one if you want to cut the cost of living. Made of linen 6 feet long with all Parcel Post regulations written on one side, graduated in inches and eighths. We took advantage of the quantity discount so we could sell this 10 cent tape at 5 cents, but we have decided to do better yet — we are going to give them to you free. All you have to do is sign your name on our Parcel Post book. Manning Mercantile Company, Skidmore, Mo.” The ad also lists prices for crepe, silks, charmeuse, and silk shirtwaist patterns.
