Measuring Social

Before the days of social media, towns and groups used the face-to-face kind of social to promote community and raise money.  Here’s a different approach to social fundraising from the March 31, 1899 Skidmore Standard:

Epworth League Social

Next Friday evening, April 7th, at the residence of John G. Hays in the Burr Oak neighborhood there will be a “Measuring Social.”  Each one present will pay two cents per foot for his height and one cent for each extra inch.  The proceeds are to go into the treasury of the Burr Oak Epworth League.  Everybody invited.
