Mark Loucks Returns from Automobile School, 1912

Automotive news from the May 7, 1912 Skidmore New Era (Skidmore, Missouri), page 1:

Returned from Automobile School.

Mark Loucks returned from Kansas City Saturday evening. He has just completed a course in the Sweeney Automobile School in that city and taken the agency for the Marathon automobile in this part of the country.

Mr. Loucks will run his demonstrating car up the last of the week, and as soon as the J. M. Hutt building, north of the Farmers Bank, can be put in shape for him, will open up a garage here.

Mr. Loucks had some early success, as we see in the May 30, 1912 New Era, page 1:

Purchased Marathon Car.

H. W. Montgomery has purchased a five passenger Marathon touring car of Mark Loucks.  This car is certainly a fine car and for looks, comfort and running is hard to beat.  Mr. Montgomery has not received his car yet but in a short time we may expect to see him “joy riding” almost every evening.

And more success reported in the June 13, 1912 New Era, also page 1:

Four New Marathons.

Mark Loucks, our new automobile man has recently sold four Marathon cars:  A five passenger touring car to each; H. W. Montgomery and Alex Wells, a four passenger touring car to A. B. Wells and a high power runabout to W. R. Linville.  Messrs Montgomery and Wells went to Kansas City Friday and brought their cars up with them Saturday.  The other two cars will be shipped in a day or so.
