Ad reads, “Celebrate July 4th with the American Legion at Burlington. Program to last all day. 20-piece band, athletic events, baseball games, good speaking, float parade, mardigras carnival. Plenty ice water on grounds – good shade in park for the big picnic dinner – everybody’s coming. Program: 9:30 a.m., band concert. 10:30 a.m. baseball game (country teams). 12:00 p.m. basket dinner at park. 1:00 p.m. float and calithumpian parade. 2:00 p.m. band concert at park. 2:30 p.m. address by Major Forrest Hanna. 4:00 p.m. baseball (Boosters vs. St. Joseph Team). 4:15 p.m. free attraction. 4:30 p.m. prize races on Main Street. 7:30 p.m. free attractions. 8:00 p.m. band concert. 8:30 p.m. Grand Mardigras and Street Carnival. Auspices Rolla Dicks Post No. 315 The American Legion.”
