Jesse Barrett Writes Home

From the April 23, 1914 Skidmore New Era:

Writes Home From Navy

Jesse Barrett, who is on one of Uncle Sam’s fighting machines in the naval yards at Bremerton, Washington, writes his mother, Mrs. Henry Barrett of Skidmore, on April 16, that his ship has orders to leave port and proceed to Mexican waters.  He don’t know whether the order will be recalled or not, but every body is making ready for war in case they are needed.
