From the September 29, 1921 Skidmore News, page 1, we bring you the following Skidmore, Missouri High School notes:
High School Notes.
The high school girls met this week and organized a basket ball team, with Alice Barrett as captain. A court will be made and baskets put up for them. The girls will probably select teams from the literary societies and play matched games.
The boys’ first team had a meeting Tuesday night and elected Homer Beverlin captain.
We have no matched game for Friday yet, but it is thought that Quitman will play us here.
There is talk of getting an indoor court and playing games there this winter. The boys down town will probably make up a team if we get the indoor court.Although Daleview lost the game last Wednesday, we had a fine game and we are proud to have her team as our opponents.
The school is to lose one of its most popular students. Dean Sauceman will go to Westboro, where his father will serve as pastor of the M. E. church. Dean entered high school as a freshman, and is always there with the pep. He is always on the basket ball court for practice, and was our center last year. The school will lose a good worker, both in the class room and in athletics, when Dean leaves.
