Advertisement for Barrett, Stoolfer & Owens of Skidmore, Missouri in December 1908 reads, “Suggestions for a happy yule tide. Christmas, the most enjoyable season of the year, is again approaching and we desire to extend to all greetings! The year 1908 and the people of Skidmore and vicinity have been very good to us and we wish to thank each and every one who has favored us with their patronage the past year. We have done our best to please every patron who has entered our doors, and we believe we have succeeded in doing so. We desire to assure you that we have nothing but good will for all, and we heartily wish you all a merry Christmas. This Christmas finds us better prepared than ever to serve those in search for Christmas supplies! Young lady, just take HIM for a walk through out Christmas department and we will see that you have a happy Christmas. Young man, direct HER to our store, and you will be pleased with your Christmas. Our line, consisting of Christmas trees, china ware, post card albums, collars and cuff boxes, handkerchief boxes, etc., is complete. We have an assortment of table linen that you can’t resist, and squares, napkins, etc. This line must be seen to be appreciated. See our lines of gloves, mittens, sweaters, shirts, caps, mufflers, etc. It is complete. Your Christmas dinner will be a success if you make your purchases from our stock of Groceries. We take especial interest in this department. Everything is fresh and clean. We make prompt deliveries to all parts of the city.
