It’s always nice to see old friends. From the June 14, 1906 edition of the Skidmore New Era (Skidmore, Missouri), page 1:
Away Over Forty Years.
Geo. Mays, who now lives in the Pan Handle country of Texas, arrived one day last week for a visit with old friends whom he has not seen since he went to seek his fortune in the West some forty-two years ago. Since leaving he has been engaged in the cattle business and has amassed considerable wealth in that way. He tells of a county in his country that is thirty miles square, in which only 120 votes were cast at the last election. He enjoys talking over old times with the old settlers here and remembers and tells much that transpired in the early days.
