Unfortunate news from the September 8, 1910 Skidmore New Era (Skidmore, Missouri), page 4:

Broke His Leg.
Eber Shunkwiler met with the misfortune Thursday evening of breaking his right leg about four inches above the knee.

Mr. Shunkwiler was helping James Newton move a house for Frank Goslee on his place east of town, when the accident occurred. The house was placed on rollers and was being moved by a cable and capstan. Mr. Shunkwiler was driving a team hitched to the lever of the capstan, when a clevis broke, letting the lever fly back striking him on the right leg breaking it. He was carried into the house at Mr. Goslee’s and Dr. J. E. Pierpoint sent for, who set the injured limb. He is getting along very nicely now.
