From the May 8, 1913 Skidmore New Era (Skidmore, Missouri), page 1:
Adds Second Story to Residence
Dr. J. E. Pierpoint is raising his residence by putting on the second story, and also remodeling the lower rooms and installing a hot water heating plant. When finished it will have all the modern improvements of light, heat, bath, hot and cold water equipment. The upper story will have four large rooms besides bath and halls. This will make nine rooms in all not including the bath, halls and closets, and will be one of the neat commodious and strictly up-to-date modern residences of the city. Skidmore, by the way, is getting to be noted for its well kept lawns and beautiful homelike residences.
