For Recorder of Deeds
In this issue appears the announcement of Dan R. Baker of Skidmore, as a candidate for the nomination of County Recorder on the Democratic ticket.
Mr. Baker is editor of the Skidmore New Era, one of the best local papers in the county. He is strictly a home product as he was born just south of Skidmore and has spent his entire life in the county. He is eminently qualified to fill the office to which he aspires, being thoroughly educated, having taken a three years course at Amity college and a two year business course at the Shenandoah Southwestern Normal. After completing his education he engaged in teaching for some time. He was for 3 years cashier of the Skidmore bank and was bookkeeper and traveling salesman for a lumber company for six years. He then took up the newspaper business and has been successful in that line. Nearly every one in this part of the county either knows or knows of Dan Baker, and speaks well of him. He is sure deserving of the nomination at the hands of his party. Then, too, he would be as strong a man as could be found to make the race at the general election. — Clearmont News
