We are glad she wasn’t seriously injured. From the Skidmore News (Skidmore, Missouri), September 8, 1921, page 1:
Tolbert Baby Knocked Down by Car.
The following article is taken from the Maryville Tribune of Monday, September 5:
Ruth Irene, the 4-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Tolbert of Skidmore, narrowly escaped serious injury Saturday evening, when she stepped from the curbing near the Townsend store in front of a car driven by Bert Mitchell and was knocked down, the car running over her foot. The child was so near the car when she stepped off the curbing that, according to those who saw the accident, the driver could not turn out in order to save her. A physician was called, who stated that there were no serious injuries.
