Clamorous Demonstrations of Quitman Loyalty, 1909

From the Skidmore New Era (Skidmore, Missouri), January 21, 1909, page 6:

The basket ball game between the Braddyville and Quitman High School which took place Saturday afternoon at the athletic hall was by far the most interesting and hotly contested game of the season. It was there that the true “College Spirit” was manifested when the large delegation from Iowa with its yells and flying banners enthused the Missourians who retaliated with clamorous demonstrations of their loyalty for the Q. H. S. The game was spiced with manly determination to win, and the splendid team work displayed throughout the game. The “Iowans” should be praised for their gentlemanly conduct, good selection of an honest referee and the spirited band of “routers” accompanied them. It is hoped the Q. H. S. will carry off the honors in the return game, as graciously and as successfully as they did Saturday.

The line up was as follows: Quitman. Center, Bird. R. Forward, Johnson. L. Forward Humphrey. R. Guard, Buntin. L. Guard, Parshall. Score 36 to 14 in favor of Quitman.
