Caught Chicken Thieves.

Oscar Ashbrook, 19 years of age, and Marion Watts, 21 years of age, both of Burlington Junction, were given a $200 fine and a two months’ jail sentence by Judge Dawson in circuit court Tuesday.

The boys pled guilty to stealing chickens. They took 21 chickens at Burlington Junction Monday night, and sold them to J. E. Jones at Quitman Tuesday morning. Watts said his name was Frank Ware, and the check was made out to him. When the check was presented at the Farmers Bank at Quitman, H. C. Bailey, cashier, refused to cash it. The sheriff was notified, and the boys were arrested at Burlington Junction. Watts is an ex-service man and a member of the Rolla Dicks Post of the American Legion at Burlington Junction.
