Change Of Name

It was a new day in a new year, and that called for a new name, according to the January 6, 1916 Skidmore News:

Change of Name.

“What’s in a name?  That which we call a rose, by another name would smell as sweet.”

Or perhaps we have been “Charmed by the foolish whistling of a name.”

However, with this week we drop the name of The New Era and adopt the Skidmore News as a trade mark of our local happenings.

We had no dislike for the former name but we believe the new name will better advertise the community.

There has been varied speculations both humorous and serious as to what would occur this week in the newspaper business.  Well it has happened just as “I told you.”  Please remember that what a newspaper publishes, whether news items, articles, or advertising, is its stock in trade, or its wares, so don’t try to pump the publisher but read the paper when issued.

Now if each of our readers will consider themselves a real live press-agent of this community and send in news items we will all feel glad that we represent the Skidmore News.
