Burn That Waste Paper

Although our modern sensibilities tend to worry more about identity theft and we would urge you to invest in a good shredder, instead, we can agree with the principle behind this story from the April 20, 1905 Skidmore New Era (page 1, of course):

Burn That Waste Paper.

Some paper blowing along the street came near causing M. P. Horn’s team to run away one of the windy days last week.

Our citizens and business men should be more careful to burn their waste paper for it may cause runaways, smashed up rigs and possibly broken bones.  If the citizens and business men do not take care of this rubbish the city authorities should see that it is burned or disposed of in some way so there can be no chance of runaways caused by papers lying in the streets.
