Bunnies – 1, Snake – 0

Hitchcock – 1, Bunnies – 1, Snake – 0.  From the June 16, 1899 Skidmore Standard:

Here is a snake story told by J. W. Hitchcock.  He says he was riding in his pasture the other evening and heard a young rabbit squeal in a bunch of bushes nearby.  The old mother rabbit was hopping about in an excited manner three or four feet from the bushes.  He rode up to the point of disturbance and discovered a large bull snake in the act of making a supper of the three or four young rabbits in a nest.  He dispatched his snakeship and the young bunnies scurried away.
