Birthday Surprise for C. Everett Linville

We’re pretty sure that all reports of birthday parties in the Skidmore New Era included references to the most delicious cake and ice cream (and we’re pretty sure all of the reports were right). From the March 25, 1909 edition, page 1:

A Birthday Surprise Party.

Last Saturday evening a very pretty surprise party was given at the beautiful home of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Linville, east of town, in honor of the sixteenth birthday of their son C. Everett. Invitations were sent to the school mates in his room, and forty of his young friends responded taking him by surprise. The evening was spent in various amusements, all enjoying themselves as only young folks can. Mrs. Linville had prepared an abundance of the daintiest and most delicious ice cream and cake, which were heartily relished by all. At a late hour the guests departed apparently happy over the pleasant evening’s entertainment which had been afforded them.
