Been Away 22 Years

A blast from the past, as reported in the October 28, 1915 Skidmore New Era, page 1:

Been Away 22 Years.

Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Haines and son, Turner, and wife of Omaha, Nebr. stopped in Skidmore, Tuesday evening a short time.

Haines formerly lived west of town where Robert Barrett lives, and moved the flour mill from down on the river, uptown and installed steam power.

It has been about twenty-two years since they left here and they noted a great change in Skidmore in that time.

They made a few minutes call on Mrs. R. A. Skidmore and Mrs. M. A. Sewell but were in a hurry to reach Maryville last evening.

They came in an auto and left Omaha at nine o’clock in the morning reaching here about five in the evening.
