We knew the bazaar must have been a great success. Here’s the proof from the November 8, 1923 edition of the Skidmore News:

Bazaar and Dinner a Success.
The bazaar and dinner held by the ladies of the Christian Church last Friday and Saturday was a great success. Receipts for the two days amounted to more than $250. The ladies have voted to make it an annual affair.

According to one calculator we found online, that $250 amount would be $3,647 in 2018 dollars.

Text of ad reads, “Bazaar Friday and Saturday, Nov. 2 and 3 in the Linville Building. Fancy Work Booth: Everything in Fancy Work. Baby Booth: Everything for the Baby. Grab Box 10c a grab. Kitchen Booth: Cakes, Candies, Jellies, Preserves, etc. House Supply Booth: Handmade rags, aprons, hand-quilted quilts, comforts, etc. Dinner Friday and Saturday, Nov. 2 and 3. Friday Menu: Roast Chicken and Dressing, baked beans, sweet potatoes, potato salad, pickles, slaw, coffee, pie. Fried Chicken, gravy, mashed potatoes, cranberries. Saturday: Chicken Pie Dinner. 25 and 35 cents a plate. By Ladies of the Christian Church.”
