Styles may have changed, but we’re betting rain-proof, moth-proof and rip-proof school clothing is still a bargain.  From the August 10, 1911 Skidmore New Era (Skidmore, Missouri), page 5:

Back-to-school boys’ fashion bargains at Manning Clothing Company advertised in the August 10, 1911 Skidmore New Era (Skidmore, Missouri).

Text of ad reads, “Have you a boy? If so, we want you to visit this store Saturday, August 12 and bring the boy. For we are going to offer some of the greatest bargains in boys’ rain-proof, moth-proof and rip-proof school suits that were ever offered. In both summer and winter weight goods, in blue serges, browns, greys and mixtures. We have picked out 25 of these suits so that you will have a full line to pick from. These suits range in price from $3 to $8 and will sell from $1.50 to $5.00. This will mean a saving of at least 33 1/3 per cent on your boy’s school clothes. Sale to start at 10 o’clock and to last only until these few suits are gone. Come early and be sure you get one of these bargains. Manning Clothing Co. Opposite Farmers Bank.”
