Automobiles and Flying Machines

The editor’s prediction was not too far off. ¬†Automobiles did find their way to Skidmore a few years later, and the Punkin Show proudly hosted the first aeroplane in town in 1910.

From the June 14, 1901 Skidmore Standard, page 5:

“Lee Chadduck not being satisfied with the common, everyday rubber tire rig sent to Chicago for a Good Year cushion tire rig. This is, without doubt, the latest and most up to date vehicle on the market. Automobiles and flying machines will soon be a common thing on and over the streets of Skidmore.”
