Ad from the December 19, 1907 Skidmore New Era reads, “Our first Christmas greeting! We have the merchandise, you have the money. Let’s trade! 500 yards black Taffetta silk, was $1.50 a yard, now $1.25. Only 10 yds to one customer. Our 12-4 heavy cotton blankets, our 11-4 heavy cotton blankets, our 10-4 heavy cotton blankets at from 55 cents to $2.85 per pair. Ask for our prices on wool blankets. We are giving a special discount. Our clothing and shoe lines are still complete. Big line of caps for men and boys. Don’t forget our line of candies, fruits, nuts, etc. Special prices in quantities. Fine line of pillow tops, silk scarfs, wool scarfs, mufflers, neck ties, napkins, stand covers and table linens. Any of which would be suitable for a Xmas present. A limited quantity of ladies’ wool 2 piece suits at 85c per garment. Cotton garments too numerous to mention. With best wishes for a merry Christmas, Armstrong & Covington.”
