Saturday, April 6, 1918.

One year ago war was formally declared between the United States of America and Germany.

Do you fully realize that we are engaged in the most deadly war in the world’s history and that some of our boys and our neighbors’ boys are fighting right now – right while you are reading this?  — many more are going to go — FOR WE MUST WIN.

Have you done your part to support the men who are offering their lives in order that a lasting peace may result – that you may live in security – that your homes be not destroyed, your wives and daughters suffer a fate worse than death, and your husbands and sons be spared?

You who don’t have to offer yourselves to go fight must offer your money to support those who do, for wars are costly.  Men must be furnished, arms, ammunition, clothing, food and plenty of each of these.

Saturday at 2:00 o’clock there will be a public demonstration in Skidmore.  Come out and show your patriotism by your presence.  SEE THE PARADE AND TAKE PART IN IT.

Hear of the great need of the soldiers and sailors and make up your mind to do your part.  “To work until you sweat” and to “give till it hurts” — the eyes of the world are focused on US and their cries for help are heard across the sea — those who have fought a good fight until they are marked thin and bled white.  LET’S SHOW THAT MONROE TOWNSHIP IS NO SLACKER.
