Another Moonshiner Caught.
Fred Carpenter of Maitland Arrested Second Time for Selling Booze.

Fred Carpenter of Maitland was arrested Sunday night, for the second time this year, for selling illicit booze. This time he faces charges in two counties, Nodaway and Holt.

An intoxicated man arrested in Maryville Sunday afternoon stated that he had secured liquor at Maitland, and that night he went back accompanied by Sheriff Roach, Prosecuting Attorney McCaffrey, and other officials, and obtained another quart. This time the purchase was made on the Nodaway county side of the river, and Carpenter was arrested and taken to Maryville, where he is in the county jail awaiting trial.

Officers made another visit to the place where the liquor was bought, Monday, and found the coils belonging to a still, a cream can full of mash and a five gallon jug of corn whiskey.

Carpenter was arrested two or three months ago in a raid at Maitland, and was under $1,000 bond to appear at the September term of court.
