American Legion Officers Elected, 1922

From the Skidmore News (Skidmore, Missouri), January 5, 1922, page 1:

James Harvey Hughes Post Holds Election.
Also Vote For Party To Be Held At Legion Hall Next Thursday Night.

The regular annual election of officers of James Harvey Hughes Post, American Legion, was held at the Legion Hall Friday evening. Charles McDaniels was chosen Commander, to succeed S. B. Garnett, who has been Commander for the past year. Other officers elected were: Vice-Commander, Harry Worl; Adjutant, Homer Aldridge; Finance officer, Delavan Robbins.

It was decided at the meeting Friday evening, to give a party next Thursday night, January 12, at the Legion Hall. This will be the second part of the series that was started some time ago with a party and luncheon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Montgomery. Tickets will be sold, and the proceeds used to furnish the hall.

The question was raised this week as to whether or not the party should be held next Thursday, on account of the meeting which is in progress at the M. E. Church. The post had decided to hold the party at that time, without knowing that there was to be a revival meeting, and they will probably hold it as planned. However, this should not seriously interfere with either the revival or the party, as the service at the church will be over about 9 o’clock and that is plenty early for those who care to attend the party.
