8th Grade Rural School Graduation, 1908

Rural Graduating Exercises.
A class of six, four girls and two boys from the rural schools of Green and Monroe townships were awarded certificates at the opera house Tuesday night, which qualifies them to enter any high school in the state without further examination.

The names of the graduates follow: Neva Reaksecker, William Burr, Anna French, Burman Wright, Beulah Carden and Theo Dougherty.

An interesting program consisting of instrumental and vocal music, recitations and exercises, was given by the rural pupils.

County Superintendent Oakerson delivered a fine address before presenting the certificates to the class.

A crowd that taxed the capacity of the opera house was present to enjoy these exercises.

Program reads, “Graduating exercises of 8th grade pupils. The graduating exercises for the rural schools will be given at the opera house, Tuesday evening, April 28. Invocation, Rev. Jeffers. Instrumental solo, Neva Reaksecker. Opening Scene. Class Song. Recitation, Harry Mitchell. Drill. Song, Scrub Oak pupils. Recitation, Flo French. Pantomime, Good Will pupils. Solo, Etta Lorance. Exercise, Star pupils. Recitation, Ivan Argo. Three Little Bears, Valley pupils. Duet, Theo and Anna Dougherty. Recitation, Marie Brown. Visitors From Story Land, East Star. Recitation, Martha James. Instrumental Solo, Neva Reaksecker. Recitation, Louie Dawson. Solo, Glo Barber and Hazel Hart. Class address, Supt. W. M. Oakerson. Admission 10 cents. All rural school children admitted free.”
