32 Pairs of Shoes

From the January 3, 1902 Skidmore Standard, page 6:

J. H. Nicholas’ store in Burlington Junction was burglarized one night last week.  The proprietor first discovered that he had been robbed Tuesday morning while selling a customer a pair of shoes.  He found 32 empty boxes on his shelves from which the shoes had been taken.  The thieves evidently had a key and let themselves in at the front door, as there were no signs of their having gained entrance in any other way.  This recalls the robbing of E. L. Wilson’s store in this city two or three years ago which was done in an exactly similar manner.
