From the Skidmore News (Skidmore, Missouri), March 16, 1922, page 5:
Filed $30,000,000 Mortgage.
The largest mortgage ever recorded in Nodaway County was filed with Recorder D. R. Baker last Thursday by C. H. Coleman, a representative of the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad Co. The mortgage is for $30,000,000, and is made to the First National Bank of New York City. It contains 61,700 words, says the Democrat-Forum, and comes to the recorder in printed form, making a book of 167 pages. The recording fee is $60.
This instrument must be filed in every county through which the Burlington lines run. It will be recorded in 27 counties in the state of Missouri alone, and the Burlington operates in 11 states.
