100 Educated Dogs and Ponies

If we were in Skidmore, Missouri on this date in 1908, we could have witnessed quite an event in the Skidmore pasture in the north part of town. Here’s the ad from the May 7, 1908 Skidmore New Era:

Advertisement reads, “Coulter & Clark’s Famous Dog and Pony Shows will exhibit in Skidmore, Tuesday, May 12 afternoon and night, in the Skidmore pasture, north part of town. 100 educated dogs and ponies. Grand free street parade at 1 p.m. Prices: Adults 35 cents, children, 25 cents; children under 6 years, if accompanied by a parent, free. The only dog and pony shows that will visit your city this year.”
